Clinical training. Lived experience.
I’ve worked nearly every side of healthcare: the hospital floor, community health, the ICU during a pandemic, aesthetics, and the business of running a practice. Each chapter taught me something the next one needed.
Surviving breast cancer changed how I practice. It’s why I go looking for root causes, why I teach, and why faith sits at the center of everything I build.
Educated, certified and still learning.

COVID-19 frontline
When the pandemic hit, I went where the need was greatest, serving as a COVID-19 ICU provider in the Bronx, then caring for COVID patients in El Paso.

Opening my first practice
I opened Lightning Medical, a traditional primary care practice. Running it showed me the back end most clinicians never see: a system that gets paid when people are sick and keep coming back, with little reward for keeping them well.

The turning point
Breast cancer, and a new way to practice
While I was wrestling with that, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It turned my world upside down, and through that battle I discovered functional medicine.
“I wanted to teach patients how not to need me.”

Lightning VIP is born
I rebranded as Lightning VIP, canceled every insurance contract and rebuilt the practice around truly preventive, root-cause functional medicine. Along the way I also served as medical director of a med spa, with training in Botox, fillers and threads.

Reaching more people
Creating The Hormone Honey
Functional medicine changes lives, but it isn’t within reach for everyone, and often the people who need it most are the ones it misses. So I created The Hormone Honey, an education platform where anyone can learn how the body works, how to keep it well, and what in our everyday environment may be keeping them sick.

Today
Building Ephraim Technology
My newest chapter is healthcare technology. Health GPS Pro came first, and my own journey as a business owner, and what it took to overcome, inspired the UnShamed compliance tracker.
